Curious Flashcards

Q

What other things in life matter other than happiness

A

Much of what we desire often has nothing to do with happiness but is just as important. This includes meaning and purpose in life, wisdom, satisfying relationships, the ability to tolerate distress, spirituality, creativity, compassion, feeling a sense of competence and mastery, and so on. Personally I have to have sense of mastery and competence and being curious helps me in that endeavor
Being able to effectively manage ambiguity and uncertainty.

What is applied Curiosity? And how does leaders apply them?

A

It means being curious about people and their backstories. It means using insights to build deceptively simple frameworks and models in their minds to make sense of their industry – and all the other disruptive forces shaping our world – so they can explain it to others.

Q

Is curiosity dying? What is written outside the Washington Museum

A

“Our worldwide levels of curiosity are at an all-time low. Attention spans are shrinking. We look more at our screens than at each other. We accept too much at face value. We’re not pursuing answers beyond the first entry that comes up in a search.”
