What is a curriculum
What are the 4 phases of the curriculum cycle
Outlines LOs => guides processes that develop, implement, manage, evaluate learning
Design - identify target area and outline LOs
Develop -
Implement - deliver teaching
Manage - evaluate efficacy of learning

Identifies population and area Resources for delivery? Who are the key influencers -DoH, GMC, MSC -SUs, BMA, charities, private groups Curriculum approach Macro approach to LOs
What is a learning needs assessment
Find out about the learner
- background, motivations
- current strengths, weaknesses
- their objectives
What is the difference between knowledge and understanding
What are skills
Knowledge - knowing
Understanding - knowing the reasoning behind the knowledge
Skills - ability to do something well
3 components of attitudes
Can be unlearnt,
Affective - emotions towards something
Behvaioural - what you do with regards to something
Cognitive - the motivations with regards to something
How would you find out what your learner needs to learn

What is the Johari window
Relationship of trust => disclosure
-student can open up to the teacher
Feedback from teacher =>
-teacher can help the student realise their strengths and weaknesses
Unknown areas to both the student and teacher can also be opened up with assessments, audits
What are the 3 ways of learning
Didactic - being told
Socratic - being asked
Heuristic - finding out
We can use a mix of all 3
What are the 3 levels of learning
Deep - understand concepts
-encouraged by personal interests
Surface - rote learning
-encouraged by exams
Strategic - what do we need at this point in time
-motivated by time and competition
How would you carry out a learning needs assessment in
- a large group
- a small group
Large group - can be hard
-use didactic, socratic, heuristic methods so possible needs can be met
Small group
-may require short dialogue with group to ascertain their aims
