CVS 1 Flashcards
(19 cards)
muscle pectinati
roughened muscle fibres
crista terminalis
ridge from SVC to IVC
coronary sinus
returns blood from the heart itself
fossa ovale
hole which connects atria, used in foetal development
tricuspid valve
anterior, posterior and septal, closes AV orfice
papillary muscles
attach to tricuspid valve via the chordae tendineae
3 papillary muscles
anterior- largest arises from anterior wall
posterior- 1-3 structures arising from ventricular wall
septal-small and sometimes not present
chordae tendineae
attaches to free margins of tricuspid valve, keep valves closed during contraction
septomarginal trabeula
a moderator band carrying contraction
pulmonary valve
3 semi-lunar cusps with free edges inside the pulmonary trunk
where are the pulmonary veins found and how many are they?
in the left atrium and there are four of them
what makes up the RCA
acute marginal and Posterior descending artery
what makes up the LCA
left circumflex containing obtuse marginals and the left anterior descending artery containing S 1&2 and D 123
where does the RCA supply?
right atrium, ventricle , diaphragm part of left ventricle, SA node and interventricular septum
where does the LCA supply?
left atrium, ventricle, partial right ventricle, SA node, AV node
how is the mediastinum split?
superior inferior: anterior middle posterior
what are the layers of the pericardium?
fibrous
serous:
visceral(inner layer)
parietal
what are the great vessels?
SVC
IVC
aortic arch
pulmonary trunk
how does the aortic arch split?
Brachycephalic:
further splits into right subclavair and right carotid
separate branches are left subclavair and left carotid
