Dapagliflozin Flashcards
1
Q
Class of Drug
A
Sodium-glucose co-transporter inhibitor (SGLT-2 inhibitor)
2
Q
MOA
A
Inhibits SGLT-2 transporter on luminal side of proximal convoluted tubule. Leads to less glucose absorption on basolateral side to the blood. More glucose is excreted in the urine
3
Q
Drug-drug interactions?
A
Anti-hypertensives (the glucose leaving in the urine is also drawing out water, so that is decreasing circulating blood volume, and therefore decreasing BP)
Other hypoglycaemic agents
4
Q
Adverse side effects
A
-glucosuria
-UTI
-genital infection
-DKA (rare)
-polydipsia (thirst)
-polyuria
-low BP
5
Q
Common Indications?
A
T2DM
symptomatic chronic HFrEF
CKD
