What is primary data?
Original data that you have collected yourself, through direct contact with the participants. Data is suitable for the aim of your study.
A strength of primary data:
+ More relevant to researcher aims as they collect info directly for their experiment and do not have to go through other irrelevant data that secondary data may present
A weakness of primary data:
What is secondary data?
Data obtained from another source, without direct contact with participants. For example, other studies/journals. May not always be tailored to your study.
A strength of secondary data:
+ Data can be collected within a short time whereas primary data takes time to collect
A weakness of secondary data:
What is a meta-analysis?
Two strengths of meta-analysis:
+ Helps rule out the impact of anomalous conclusions - one off studies that contradict the general outlook of the field
+ Gives you a general understanding of what all the studies from the field are saying, helps inform us of the consensus

Non-numerical data that expresses the ‘quality’ of things - descriptions, words, meanings, pictures and texts

Data that is numerical, for example, data that represents how much, duration or how many
