What is data
Data consists of raw ir unprocessed facts and figures which are not set in a particular context. It has no meaning
Whats information
Its data which has been processed and therefore has a context.
What is knowledge
Its the result of applying rules to information to allow decisions to be made or to allow you to interpret the info
What makes content a better quality of information
Up-to-date

Relevant

What is a range check
Checks if the value is between the upper and lower boundaries
Pros and cons of check digit
Pro: can detect most transposition errors
Con: not all incorrect digits can be detected
Whats a bacth digit
The total sum of one or more fields in a batch if data.
Whats a contro total
If the batch total calculated is meaningful such as the total value of all orders during a transaction period then its referred to as a control total.
Whats a hash total
If the batch total caluculated has no clear meaning or use.
Whats data verification
Its used to comfirm the integrity of data as it is copied between different parts of computer systems.
Whats transpositon error
When 2 or more characters are switched
Whats omission error
Where data has been missed during data entry
Whats double entry
This involves entering the data twice, by different operators.
What is proofreading
This involves the user checking that the data entered into the computer system perfectly matches the source of data.
