Who was Ptolemy?

A

A famous Greek thinker who theorized that the Earth was the center of the solar system in the early 100’s. The church agreed with his theory as they believed that God gifted humans, and therefore humans, and their plant Earth, were superior.

Who was Nicolaus Copernicus?

A

A Polish astronomer during the Scientific Revolution. According to many historians, his book that he published in 1543 called “On the Revolution of the Celestial Spheres” started the Scientific Revolution. He made a theory, contradicting Ptolemy’s theory, and said that instead of the Sun and other planets revolving around the Earth, the Earth and other planets revolved around the Sun.

A

An Italian scientist during the Scientific Revolution who proved Copernicus’ theory. He was the first to use a telescope to study the sky. He also was the first to see the craters on the moon.
