What is the main principle of Willmott and Young’s study into the domestic division of labour?

A

They take a “march of progress” view, studied w/c extended families in East London in the 1950s and 1973. Found trend away from women being the sole responsibility for housework/childcare and men spending leisure time with workmates, to both having role in housework/childcare and leisure time is spent together
