Delusion Lecture Flashcards
(10 cards)
Two Factor Model
Perceptual System Error: I hear my own thoughts spoken out loud. If I hear a thought, I predict that other people can hear it.
Deficits in Reasoning Capacities:
Bayesian Cognitive Model
The human mind is an anticipatory predictive engine whose primary drive is to minimize the mismatch between its model of the world and incoming sensory input
Excessive Precision
We let the error of the delusion help us to forget the disconfirming information
Endorsement Model
The experience is the very content of the illusion. They believe the content of their experiential state.
Explanationist Model
I’m trying to explain the difference between my perception and belief system. The belief system arises out of the need to explain the delusion.
Cotard’s Syndrome
A series of delusions that one has lost body parts, organs, blood; insisting that one has lost one’s soul or is dead
Capgras Syndrome
Irrational belief that a familiar person or place has been replaced with an exact duplicate
