ACD/ICD- contact or irritant derm
DP, acute onset, contact hx positive, usually vesicular and oozing
Atopic dermatitis
- DP, diffuse dry scaly, allergic hx, fam hx
Seborrheic derm-
DP, less itchy, diffuse, scaly, greasy
Dyshidrotic Eczema
- DP, deep vesicles, acute, recurring, pruritic
Nummular Eczema –
DP, papulovesicular or scaly coin-shaped lesions, biopsy
Lichen simplex chronicus
– DP, usually single dry scaly lesion, chronic itch
Asteatotic Dermatitis
– DP, dry scaly, common in elderly, worse in winter
“Id” reaction –
DP, vesicular, hx of distal primary lesion, linear
Polymorphous Light Eruption
– DP, hx of 1st sun exposure 18-24 hours previous
Drug-related Eczema
– DP, hx of new drug, herb, chemical exposure
Psoriasis-
DP, sharply defined, dry scales, fam hx
Pityriasis rosea-
DP, “herald patch”; acute onset, papulosquamous eruption
Lichen planus –
DP, 5 P’s, in mouth, Wickham’s striae”, biopsy
Tinea capitis, facialis, corporis –
DP, KOH + for fungus
Pityriasis versicolor-
DP, fingernail scratch sign, Wood’s lamp, KOH (spaghetti and meatballs)
Bacterial infections –
DP, acute vesicular, subacute crusty, lab (culture +)
Viral infections –
DP, acute vesicular, lab (culture +)
SLE -
DP, fever, malaise, joint pain, lab (ANA, anti smith, double stranded DNA)
Secondary syphilis-
DP, lab (RPR, dark field, etc)
Erythema migrans-
DP, lab (PCR, Western blot, etc), hx of tick bite
Erythema multiforme-
DP, target lesions, following herpes, mycoplasma, drug rx
Scabies-
DP, hx (night itching), lab , look like little flea bites
