Solar keratoses
Likelihood of solar keratoses developing to SCC?
Pretty much only slightly higher than normal skin!

Do have dysplastic changes
Solar keratoses which has been treated with field treatment (imiquimod/5-flurouracil) - unsightly + uncomfy for a few weeks

‘Stuck on’ brown with granular/wart-like surface

How to treat flat BCC?
Field treatment (imiquimod or 5-fluorouracil cream)
OR photodynamic therapy
Amelanotic melanoma
Very similar appearance to BCC and metastasis
How to differentiate solar keratosis or Bowen’s
SK - small, ill-defined, sun exposed site
Bowens: >10mm, well circumscribed
Pearly edge - BCC
Smooth red plaque, some erosion in old man - BCC
Chondrodermatitis
Benign
Epidermoid cyst (cheesy filling). Benign.
Dermatofibroma
FIRM feel, flat or slightly raised
Can look like a lot of things but firmness is key
Raised mole. Same texture (not shiny or rough).
Nodular BCC - skin coloured but shiny, translucent lesions
May have telangiectasia
Slow growing + do not metastasize
