What is Psychological dependence?
A
A emotional compulsion to take a drug as the individual believes they cannot cope with work/ social life without it.

What is physical dependence?
A
The state of the body when withdrawal symptoms are produced from not taking the substance.

What is withdrawal syndrome?
A
A psychological and physical symptoms an individual experiences from not taking the substance.
-for example nausea headache
-it is unpleasant so some individuals continue to take a substance to avoid it

What does tolerance mean?
A
-when an individual takes a substance for a long period of time and due to repeat exposure the response is reduced.
if this occurs individuals must take more than the regular dosage to have the same effects.
