Desighn Methods And Process Flashcards
(7 cards)
Iterative design
A process of desighn that goes back and forth through the stages of desighn
User centred design
Design ensures the product is easy to use with users in mind and tend to follow the international usibility standard (ISO). Uses high levels of ergonomic and anthropometric data.
Principles of ISO (6)
-design takes full account of users, their interaction and enviroment
-users evolved through design process
Design is refined by user-centered evaluation
-the design process is initive
-the design considered the whole user experience
-the design is developed in a multi skilled multi disciplinary team
Designing to wants and neeeds
Physical needs (baby-grandparent)
Emotional needs (brand loyalty)
Intellectual needs (brand age stimuli)
Values and sociological needs (recycling, Egan)
Imersion investigation
Putting tehe desighners in the users situation e.g pregnancy belly, thick glove or frosted glass
Primary investigation techniques
Immersion
Interviews
Focus groups
Market resurch
Analysing, disassembling and evaluating existing products
Practicaltesting of materials, components, construction methods and finishes
Human factors such as ergonomic issues can be considered by observing potential user using. Product
Secondary research
Explore historical and contemporary desighn and movements to identify how styling influences can be used in their new product
Identifity suitable materials, components and construction methods
Obtain relevant anthropomorphic data from percentiles within the 5th to 95th
