Outline the gross motor developmental milestones
- Newborn: symmetrical and flexed posture | marked head lag on pulling up
- 6-8 weeks: raises head to 45° when lying prone
- 6-8 months: sits (limit age 9 months)
- 10 months: stands
- 12 months: walks (limit age 18 months)
- 18 months: squat and pick things up from the floor
- 2-2.5 years: walks steadily, runs + jumps
Outline personal and social developmental milestones
- 6 weeks: smile
- 6 months curious + engaged with people
- 9 months: cautious with strangers
- 12 months: pointing, waves, claps
- 18 months: imitates activities
- 2 years: waving at strangers, parallel play
- 3 years: seek out other children + play with them | bowel control
- 4 years: has best friend, dresses self, imagination

- 6 months: palmar grasp of objects
- 9 months: scissor grasps objects
- 12 months: pincer grasp
- 14-18 months: clumsily use spoon to bring food from bowl to mouth

- used to record child’s weight, height, vaccinations and other important information
How often should you weight a baby
- once a month up to 6 months
- once every 2 months between 6-12 months
