-positive/ negative for 1 month
Age of onset
-Early 20s= M
-Late 20s =F
RARE for kids below-13
MOOD
To be diagnosed, a person must have:
Uni;
-Depressed mood or loss of interest in activities
- Happening most of the day, nearly every day
- Lasting at least 2 weeks
Bi;
1-FULL manic + Depressive episodes
-Least ONCE a week
-BOTH MANIC + DEPRESSIVE IN SAME WEEK
Manic =euphoriaaa+ impulsivity+ grandiose(Big D)
2- Full hypo + Depression
More control, less disruption
Add:-
+Cyclothymia- 2+ hypo bi
+Dysthymia - Least 2+ years(clingy depression)
Anxiety
DSM-IV;
-Persistent for MANY days BUT over 6
-Difficulty controlling worry
-anxiety over range of things
Agoraphobia
-Fear/ Anxiety of 2+ core symptoms
-Fear won’t get help/ escape
-Symptoms of 6+months
-Avoidance / Endurance under stress
-Not due to another symptom
OCD
-Characterized by presence of obsessions(contamination, harm/safety, symmetry, forbidden thought)
-Compulsions: repetitive acts and behaviours performed in response to the obsessions (cleaning, checking, arranging, rituals)
- Poor insight people are convinced their obsessional thoughts are true and their compulsions are necessary
- Fair good insight are aware their obsessional thoughts are untrue however anxiety can reduce the insight
BII
-Marked fear/anxiety
-exposure to thing always provokes fear
-persistent symptoms
impairment /distress
-not overlap another symptom
ICD
- Repeated inability to resist the impulse or urge to carry out a particular behaviour
- The behaviour feels rewarding in the short term but can have negative consequences in the long term such as self harm, tarnishing of relationships with family and friends or loss of employment
