Dose Range

A

D(loading) = 250 – 500mcg every 4-6 hours (m=1.5mg)

D(maintenance) = 125 – 250 mcg once daily

*halve doses in renally impaired

  • anorexia
  • n/v
  • diarrhoea
  • blurred vision
  • drowsiness

thrombocytopenia, seizures, confusion, psychosis, gynaecomastia (RARE)

Counselling

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist that you are taking digoxin before using any other medicines, including OTC medications
  • be aware of signs of toxicity
    • anorexia
    • n/v
    • visual disturbances (blurred vision, yellow vision)
  • Risk of digoxin toxicity is increased by conditions/medications causing hypokalaemia, hypomagnesaemia, hypercalcaemia, acidosis, hypoxia.
