SE’s

A

mostly due to effect of shifting K+ intracellularly, i.e. causing hypokalaemia:

  • tremor
  • palpitations, tachycardia
  • hyperglycaemia (high doses) muscle cramps
  • agitation
  • hyperactivity in children

Counselling

A
  • Do not use this drug to relieve symptoms of an asthma attack; use short-acting reliever instead.
  • Use this medicine every day even if you are feeling better.
  • Make sure that your doctor has given you an asthma management plan.
  • Tell your doctor if you need to use this medicine in higher doses or more frequently than prescribed.
  • Use a spacer with MDI
