Q

What is the difference between dominant and recessive alleles

A

If there is a dominant allele present it will always be expressed whereas there has to be 2 recessive and no dominant to have a recessive allele show

7
Q

What are the 4 steps in mitosis

A
  1. Chromosomes in nucleus are copied
  2. Chromatids pulled apart and moved towards poles
  3. Chromosomes separate
  4. Cell divides

9
Q

What is the difference between haploid and diploid cells

A
  • Haploid cells have one set of chromosomes, diploid cells have 2
  • Diploid cells reproduce by mitosis, haploid cells are a result of meiosis

Q

What are the 5 main steps of meiosis

A
  1. Chromosomes make identical copies of themselves
  2. Similar chromosomes pair up
  3. Sections of DNA get swapped
  4. Pairs of chromosomes divide
