1
Q

What is DNA repication

Q

What is Unzipping

A

Hydrogen bonds between the nucleotides break,

Helicase seprates the two strands of nucleotides into a “replication fork”

Q

What is Priming

A

Short strand of RNA and joins into unzipped strands
Complementary to the unzipped strand

Leading strand = 1 primer
Lagging strand = Many primers

Reads up 3-5
Writes down 5-3

Q

What is Copying

A

DNA polymerase is an enzyme that binds to primed sections of dna

Attaches complimentary nucleotide to dna, 5’-3’

Leading strand has contionous replication, while lagging strand has discontinous replication (okazaki fragment)

Q

What is Finishing

A

Primes are removed by exonuclease. Dna ligase reforms the hydrogen bonds.
