What should accession records do

A

Accession record should inform if it was a donation, purchase, what the provenance is. Where its location is in storage.

What is the 3 part accession number

A

1st digit refers to year it was accessioned. 2nd digit refers to donation number of that year. 3rd digit refers to object number within the donation. Then parts of the object is a,b,c,etc.
example: 2012.3.1

What does a curatorial catalog have?

A

has description of the object and its historical context.
Include photos. Explain why it’s important to the collection. Include predominant material, color. You want to leave enough information that someone can understand what it is without a photo.

A

when it enters collection, during its movement or handling, when it’s requested for exhibitions and loans.

A

Condition report is an account of the objects condition at any moment in time. Include photos. Provide description of the nature, location and extent of defects.
