25
finding blind spots
adjust mirrors to find the blind spot, usually in the back left and right of the car. adjust the centre mirror to the direct back so when you look into it you can see the back of the car directly. adjust the left and right mirrors to see the rear of the car.
26
seatbelt not on
drivers can be fined up to 1,000 dollars and given two demerit points
27
child safety seatbelt
children under 16 must be in the proper seat (booster, child seat or seatbelt depending on the weight/height). if not done properly, driver can be fined up to 1,000 dollars and given two demerit points
28
headlights
go on high beam (vehicles are far away from you ex. 150 m or greater) or low beam (vehicles are close ec. less than 60 m ) when needed
29
watch for parked cars as people might pull out in from of you or open car doors
LEL
30
left turn
left light turns on, left hand is out in line with shoulder
31
right turn
right light is on, hand is up at a 90 degree angle
32
slowing down or stopping
red lights turn on. hand is 90 degree downwards ish
33
keep right
keep in right lanes unless you want to turn left or pass someone. do this if you drive slower than others too
34
speed limits
school and construction zones often have lower things. if there is no limit posted, the max speed is 50km in cities and towns, 80 km elsewhere
35
speed measuring warning devices are
illegal and will get you demerit points
36
tailgating rule
use a "two second space". allow car to pass sign then count for two seconds. if you pass before you are finished then that is not ideal. give more space than that if you are in bad weather, following motorcycle or truck or when carrying a load
37
driving with cyclists (road driving)
they must ride as close to the right hand curb but are allowed to use any part of lane to avoid things like obstacles or sm. cyclists may be as fast as the traffic and then are not required to go as right as possible. they can make left turns. when passing a cyclist, maintain 1 m distance if you can't avoid changing lane to pass someone. do not follow to closely behind cyclists as they don't have brake lights to tell you they are stopping.
38
driving with cyclists intersections
when turning right, signal and check mirrors to make sure cyclist is not being cutoff. when turning left, wait for all cyclists to pass before turning. when driving, be careful to check for cyclists turning left. do not honk when overtaking a cyclist as it make shock them. do it lightly at some distance
39
bike lanes
marked by a solid white line. sometimes, you will need to enter it in order to turn right. children biking are very dangerous so take special care especially of blind spots
40
bike boxes
lane is fully painted and there is a box before the car lane that is also coloured in. stop the car behind the box ALways
41
BIKE SHARROW
has the bike symbol with two arrow things on top (chevron). indicates that lane is shared
