Each ps was approached by a colleague asked to examine a pair of fingerprints ( which was a pair they had previously 5 years earlier recorded as a definite match )
The context was manipulated by telling them the prints were a pair of prints that had been wrongly identified by the fbi and the ps were given the expectation the fingerprints would not match
