Q

define stereoisomers

A

have the same molecule formula and sequence of bonded atoms, but differ in the 3D orientations of their atoms in space

Q

what are recombinant proteins?

A

The strategy for expressing recombinant protein involves transfecting a particular cell with DNA vector containing the template of recombinant DNA. The cells containing the template are then cultured, so that they can transcribe and translate the protein of interest.
produce proteins within bacteria → purify proteins

Q

what is gene therapy

A

Replacing or inactivating a mutated gene that causes disease with a healthy copy of the gene

Gene therapy consists of a recombinant nucleic acid used in or administered to a human being with a view to regulating, replacing, adding or deleting a genetic sequence
