ACEi

A

Examples: captopril, lisinopril, enalapril, ramipril
Indication: Hypertension, HF, diabetes, MI
MOA: antagonism of angiotensin II
Side effects: dry cough, first dose hypotension, angiodema
Cautions/contraindications: Co-administration with potassium sparing diuretics, bilateral renovascular disease, pregnancy
Hepatic impairment: 2.5 mg daily
Renal impairment: Max. daily dose 5 mg if creatinine clearance 30–60 mL/minute; max. initial dose 1.25 mg once daily (do not exceed 5 mg daily) if creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/minute

Treatment of threadworm

A

Mebendazole (anthelmintic) (Ovex)
Dose: 100 mg for 1 dose, if reinfection occurs, second dose may be needed after 2 weeks.
Recommended that all members of the family are treated at the same time.
Contraindication: pregnancy, hypersensitivity
Precautions: not recommended in children under 2
Interactions: Metronidazole and cimetidine
Side effects: GI disturbances- diarrhoea, abdominal pain

Sudafed

A

Contain pseudoephedrine 60mg
Indicated for the symptomatic relief of conditions such as allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, the common cold and influenza.
Dose: Adults and Children over 12 years- 1 tablet every 4 - 6 hours up to 4 times a day.
Contraindications: diabetes, Cardiovascular disease including hypertension, Phaeochromocytoma, Hyperthyroidism, Closed angle glaucoma, Severe renal impairment, use with MAOIs
Interactions: MAOIs, moclobemide, antihypertensives, cardiac glyocsides, ergotamine, amphetamines, anticholinergics, anesthetics.
SE: headache, drowsiness, nervousness, nausea

Anusol Ointment

A

Indication: Symptomatic relief of uncomplicated internal and external haemorrhoids, pruritus ani, proctitis and fissures. Also indicated post operatively in ano- rectal surgical procedures and after incision of thrombosed or sclerosed ano- rectal veins.
Anusol Ointment provides antiseptic, astringent and emollient properties which help to relieve discomfort associated with minor ano-rectal conditions.
Administration: Apply to the affected area at night, in the morning and after each evacuation until the condition is controlled. Thoroughly cleanse the affected area, dry and apply ointment. Anusol Ointment should be applied on a gauze dressing. For internal conditions use rectal nozzle provided. Remove the nozzle cap. Clean the nozzle after each use. Not to be taken orally.
