Early Embryonic Formation Flashcards
(12 cards)
How does cavitation occur?
Sodium being pumped actively into central area -> osmotic pressure causes cavity to expand
Epiblast
Superficial layer - embryonic body
Hypoblast
Deep cell layer form extraembryonic membranes
What is gastrulation?
Where disc becomes trilaminar (ectoderm, mesoderm, endoderm)
Tissues the ectoderm forms
Epidermis of the skin, hair, mouth and nose lining, skin glands, nervous system
Tissues the mesoderm forms
Dermis of the skin, muscle, skeleton, circulatory system, gonads kidneys, outer layers of digestive and respiratory tracts
Tissues the endoderm forms
Lining of the digestive and respiratory tracts, liver, pancreas
The primitive streak
forms in early amniotes and establishes bilateral symmetry
Polarisation
Tail end = node signalling centre
Head end = anterior visceral endoderm (AVE) signalling centre
MAKE CARDS REGARDING SIGNALS AND SYMMETRY
Monozygotic twins are
One egg and one sperm split into two at an early stage
Dizygotic twins are
Two eggs fertilised at the same time by two separate sperm
