7
Q

Describe the process of Freeze-thaw weathering.

A
  1. Water enters the cracks of rocks.
  2. At night or when the temperatures drop, the water freezes.
  3. Ice is formed and takes up more space than water.
  4. It pushes against the side of the crack.
  5. Over several times, the crack gets larger and eventually the rock breaks.

8
Q

What is Chemical weathering?

A
  1. Rain falls on rocks
  2. Acids in the rain react with the rock, wearing it down

Q

How are sedimentary rocks useful?

A
  1. They can be used to make attractive architecture.
  2. They can be used on pavements/roads to absorb rain water and avoid a slippery ground.
