Q

What is Non-Cohesive Soils

A

These soils are easy to work with because they drain water well and have a naturally high CBR.

Q

What is cohesive soils?(clay?)

A

Clay is tricky because it changes with moisture. When it’s wet, it becomes soft and weak. When it dries, it shrinks and cracks.
•In New Zealand, where rainfall can be high, clay soils often need special treatment to make them stable enough for roads.

Q

What soul stabilization?

A

Adding materials like lime or cement to the soil to make it stronger and less sensitive to water.
•This is common in wet areas of New Zealand, where clay soils are prone to becoming soft and unstable.

Q

What is drainage

A

We install drains or use free-draining materials to keep water away from the subgrade. Wet soil is weak soil!
