Ebryology Flashcards
(19 cards)
In which weeks does the urinary system develop?
Week 3-8
What constitutes a nephron?
Renal corpuscle + PCT + Loop of H + DCT
What constitutes the uriniiferous tubule?
Nephron + Collecting Duct
What gives rise to the nephrogenic cord/urogenital ridge = KIDNEY and URETERS?
The intermediate mesoderm
What does the cloaca give rise to?
Urinary Bladder and Urethera
What is connected to the urinary tract before separated by the urorectal septum?
The Digestive Tract
What does the urogenital ridge develop into?
Pronephros, Mesonephros and metanephros
What does the mesonephros become?
The mesonephric ducts and mesonephric tubules (regress)
What forms the metanephros?
Develops from outgrowth of mesonephric duct, uretic bud and from nearby condensed intermediate mesoderm (Metanephric blastoma)
What does the uretic bud become?
The ureter, major/minor calyx and collecting tubules
What does the metanephric blastema become?
Excretory tubules - Bowmans capsule, PCT, DCT, LofH
Describe the process of nephron development?
Mesoderm(mesoenchyme) to epithelial transition -> Metanephric vessicels from which mecome metanephric tubules -> tubules merge with CD -> Glomerulus invaginates npehrons -> Uriniferous tubule lengthen
Where do the kidneys lie after embryo development?
T12-L3
when does the ascent of kidneys stop?
When they reach the adrenal glands
What originally -derm is the trigone from?
Mesoderemal as is from the absorption of the caudal ends of the mesonephric ducts -> LATER REPLACED WITH ENDODERMAL EPITHELIUM
what does the urigenital sinus give rise to ?
Cranial - Bladder
Middle - Prostativ and mebranous urethra in male and entire urethra in females
Caudal - Penile urerthra in males
What is the prostate formed from?
Buds from the urethra
In males what does the definitive urigenital sinus become?
Penile urethra
What budding forms the from the seminal vesicles?
Buds from ductus deferens
