ECGs Flashcards
(8 cards)
What are the ECG signs of first degree heart block?
PR interval > 200ms
What is the management of first degree heart block?
if symptomatic may require pacemaker
if asymptomatic can be monitored as an outpatient
What type of heart block is it when there is 2 p waves for every QRS complex?
second degree heart block (fixed ratio 2:1)
What are the types of second degree heart block?
Type I (wenckebach) - progressive prolongation of PR Type II - no prolongation - just occasional missing of a QRS for a P wave fixed ratio blocks
What are the signs of third degree heart block on ECG?
no relationship between P waves and QRS complexes
What is the main cause of an irregular narrow complex tachycardia?
AF
What are the 4 differentials for a regular narrow complex tachycardia?
AVRT/AVNRT, sinus tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter
What can you do to help differentiate the cause of a regular narrow complex tachycardia?
do a vagal manouevre or give adenosine
