  • This EIA was carried out to assess the impacts of the London 2012 Olympics on the area of East London.
  • This EIA identified the likely impacts of the development and proposed measures to reduce or offset adverse effects. An example would be; during the construction phase, it was predicted that construction traffic would affect the flow of traffic, air quality, noise levels, and the general character of the area around the site.
  • Overall, in the final stage of the development, all environmental effects were predicted to be neutral or better, with major benefits for walking and cycling, sport, leisure, and culture.

  • Completed in 2009, this is the largest hydroelectric power-generating dam in the world is located at Three Gorges on the Yangtze River.
  • Millions of people living by the Yangtze has been affected
  • EIA report identified 47 endangered species in the area, including the Chinese River dolphin (extinct) and the Chinese Sturgeon.
  • The dam flooded 100,000 acres of fertile agricultural land, 1600 factories, 13 cities, 140 towns, and 2 million people were forced to move out.
  • Environmental impacts: deforestation, landslides, etc.

As the purpose of this project is to develop economies in Columbia, this project might develop the service industry, food, education, local agriculture, construction, and other sectors of the economy.
