Gout/RA mc in female middle age

Lat epicondylitis

A

Most common elbow complain, MC 30-60yo M=F
carpenters/ gripping tools with pronation and supination is very painful dt micro trauma and ischemia to tendons of ECRB

Medial epicondylitis

A

2nd most common elbow pain although 3x less likely than LE.
Age 30-60 M>F
Common in athletes and carpenters.
Caused by over use of flexor muscles in forearm, micro Raina and ischemia to tendons.

A

Commonly seen in elbow as 50% that have RA will involve the shoulder.
MC in middle aged women
Typically bilateral and symmetrical

Radial nerve entrapment

A

MC in females, 30-50yo
This is a compressive neuropathy, most commonly under the arcade of froshe as well as space occupying lesion in fascial bands.
Tell me diagnostically confused with lateral epicondylitis .

Ulnar nerve entrapment

A

Second, most common nerve entrapment of the arm after carpal tunnel.
MC in males, >35 yo
Caused by repetitive compression by leaning on elbows or prolonged elbow flexion, trauma, swelling, or a fracture.
Associated with holding tools in a position repetitively
Seen in diabetes obesity an autoimmune conditions

Pulled elbow

A

Most common in children, especially girls, most common left arm
Caused by a sudden axial traction of an extended pronated arm, forcing the head of the radius out of the week, annular ligament and capitulum slipping into the supinator muscle

Olecranon bursitis

A

Inflammation of the bursa at the elbow posterior to the olecranon process
Ages, 30 to 60 Yo M>F
Causing reduce range of motion, swelling, pain, and leaning on elbows makes the pain exacerbate.
May present as red and hot .
Associated with gout and rheumatoid arthritis
