How does AMS work?
Two votes: for a regional and constituency representative. Vote for a candidate for your constituency and a party for your region.
31
How does STV work?
Voters rank their preferences in numerical order. Those with fewer votes than the quota are eliminated and their votes transferred to next choices. Candidates with excess votes above the quota also have their votes transferred. Any candidate who now has more thsn the quota is elected.
32
How does SV (used to elect mayors in England) work?
The voter makes two preferential choices. If one candidate obtains over 50% on the first vote then the contest is complete. If no candidate attains over 50%, two candidates remain and second choices are re-distributed between those two, which results in a winner.
