Q

What are the circuit rules?

A

Series circuit rules:

  • current is the same at any point.
  • the potential difference across the supply is shared between the components of the circuit.
  • the resistance of the whole series circuit is the sum of the resisters of its components.

Parallel circuits:

  • in a parallel circuit the current will split at a ‘junction’. The total current at a junction must be equal to the total current out.
  • the potential difference is equal to the supply.
