Feedstuff
any dietary component that provides some essential nutrients/serves some other function

Forages

Laminitis
inflammation/damage of the tissue between hoof and underlying coffin bone
Severe laminitis
can progress to founder - hoof and coffin bone are seperated, the coffin bone can rotate causing extreme pain
Spoilage
green chop - forage harvested at a given stage of development and fed directly
Ensiling
harvesting process where forage is chopped then stored in a oxygen excluding storage unit
Silage
a partially fermented stage that’s apart of ensiling - forage is essentionally “pickled”
Hay
forage that is cut and left out to dry out before being stored into bales
Concentrates
a type of forage low in fiber but high in energy/or protein
By-product feeds
residues left over from the feed-processing industry and spans a wide array of feedstuff
Nonnutritive Feed Additives
additives that can include buffers, hormones, binders, medications
