embryonic similarities Flashcards
(5 cards)
compare//contrast
each embryo is contained in a sac providing nutrients and protection At the beginning stage the embryos look very similar each contains a tail and in a curled state Eventually some of them will like the tail and be born with legs or wings along with many other distinguishing features
you observe that 2 different organisms have similar features. What conclusion can you make
You can conclude that the organisms had common ancestors and for many reasons had evolved to survive and reproduce
What conclusion can be made about how theses snakes evolved overtime
The observation suggest that these snakes must’ve evolved from a limbed ancestors
What similarities in development do they all share
There are many similarities in development shared by these organisms they start out having tails and similar heads/ upper bodies and they all develop into something that looks different from their initial stage
what type of homology?
Organisms that have similar patterns of growth while they are in the embryonic stage have developmental homology
