the effects of reduced nose gear steering effectiveness.
What is the aft C of G for -8/-9 in % MAC

A

• Refer to the aft CG take-off chart when the gross weight CG (%MAC) is at
or aft of:
• 25.3 on the 787-8, or
• 23.1 on the 787-9

Q

How do we intercept glide paths from above?

A

• Select APP on the MCP and verify G/S is armed

• Establish final landing configuration

Set MCP altitude NO lower than 1,000ft AFE

• Select V/S mode and set to -1,500 fpm

• Upon intercepting G/S reset MCP altitude to missed approach altitude

20
Q

Where is the low energy regime?

A

The decision to place an aircraft into the low energy landing regime is a
decision to land. The low energy landing regime is defined as:
• Aircraft is in descent.
• Thrust is at or near idle.
• Airspeed is decreasing.
• Aircraft height is 50 ft or less above the runway elevation.

21
Q

How do we recover from a log energy regime?

A

Use normal go-around procedures

• Ground contact is likely. Autothrust will not engage on the ground and the F/D go-around mode will not be available until airborne

• Wait for engines to develop adequate thrust, and speed to increase to VREF to avoid a tailstrike

• If reverse thrust is initiated, a full stop MUST be made

22
Q

What is the after touchdown go around procedure?

A

PF manually advances thrust and calls “GO-AROUND FLAP 20”
• PF verifies go-around thrust
• PM selects flaps 20 (Siren)
• AUTOTHROTTLE DISC (Beeper)
• At VREF PF rotates smoothly to 15°
• PM calls “POSITIVE RATE”
• PF calls “GEAR UP”
• PF - push TO/GA
• Continue the normal go-around procedure

23
Q

How do you tell the difference between Eng fail with Dam and Eng fail without?

A

Eng fail with damage

N1 = 0
or
N2 =0
or
Red box for EGT/N1/N2

Without Dam would be

N1/EGT/N2 Decreasing

24
Q

What was your mistake on your last two rides?

A

Rudder control on T/O

25
What has to be after landing from an emergency/shutdown turbulence etc
Log book ASR Dispatch MLO Debrief crew
26
Can you land CAT II/III single engine?
Yes!
27
What is the acronym for the diversion
ASRDOA A altitude on VNAV page S peed cost index Zero LRC/CO spd R reserves D diversion message O overweight A advise x 4 Diversion guidance checklist Then IDLVPN If fuel is not important, you can skip most of the diversion guide ce
28
Winter operations considerations
No assumed thrust Engine run EAI on for taxi T/O Altn
29
What does “orders matters” mean (787)
The order that we enter the cruise altitude vs the approach effects the ability of the FMC to connect the VNAV to the approach Cruise alt first Then approach
30
Oceananic engine out procedures
Identify failure Turn 30 degrees Offset 5 nm right/left LNAV on Drill Engine out on VNAV page VNAV armed Con on ED Lights/121.5/ADS ATC on HF Descend below FL290 (expedite FLCH if going wrong way or fuel sensitive,TCAS Below) Checklist eng fire/fail Oceanic checklist Divert Diversion checklist

32
What should we say when we call for the checklist?
“I have ATC”
33
How long should it take to rotate to 15 deg for take off
4 sec
34
What does the pitch change to for landing
Goes from 3 deg down to top of the circle just touching the horizon
35
If on Fire what is the minimum things to do in order to land safely
REF DH ILS tuned Auto brakes
36
If there is a rapid depressurization what can you assume
Structural failure Target current altitude for descent
37
What must you consider if you get a CAC surge -Pack (L) R
Descend to 35,000 ft or lower
38
How do you secure a failed engine on the ground?
In the event of an engine failure on the ground an engine may be secured by selecting the appropriate FUEL CONTROL switch to CUTOFF, after confirmation. • This does not require reference to the checklist.
39
In the event of a engine fire on the ground, do we have to wait 30 sec to blow the second bottle?
In the event of an engine fire on the ground, the second engine bottle may be discharged without waiting 30 seconds.
40
In the event of an engine fire on the ground do you have to wait to blow the second engine bottle?
In the event of an engine fire on the ground, the second engine bottle may be discharged without waiting 30 seconds.
41
During a RTO when does the auto throttle advance the thrust after the take off is rejected
If a rejected take-off occurs prior to the HOLD annunciation and the autothrottle is not disconnected, the thrust levers will advance to the selected take-off thrust position when released.
42
During a RTO when does the auto breaking occur or not?
If an RTO is initiated at or below 85KT, the RTO autobrake function does not operate.
43
How can you determine you are experiencing windshear?
15 kt indicated airspeed • 500 fpm vertical speed • 5 deg pitch attitude • 1 dot displacement from the glideslope • unusual thrust lever position for a significant period of time.
44
Fuel jettison technique
Use the QRHN fuel jettison report to record all the information you need ( >4,000 ft, not in a hold, advise everyone)
45
What do you say when you need prioritization for weather deviations?
Weather deviation required
46
What is the limit and the call for bank and pitch on landing
“BANK” >10 deg “PITCH” > 9 deg (>15 nacelle strike. >10 tail)
47
How do you turn off all Aural Alarms
AURAL WARN switch by dome light
48
What and when are the announcements made for an emergency landing?
FAF - “Emergency stations, Emergency stations” 500’ - “Brace for landing, Brace for landing” On ground - “Evacuate, Evacuate”
49
What is the Announcement for Rapid Deplanement ?
“Deplane immediately and leave your personal belongings.“
50
What checklists are only in QRH?
Smoke fire and Fumes
51
What should you do first with any flight control issue?
Speed man to current speed or 200kts
