Rescue breathing in adults and infants

  • ADULT: 1 breath every 5-6 sec → 10-12 breaths/min
  • INFANTS/CHILDREN: 1 breath every 3 sec → 20 breaths/min

  • 30 compressions: 2 breaths
  • (If alone & no mobile phone, leave victim to activate EMS & get AED)
  • Do 5 cycles (~2 minutes) then REASSESS Same of 1 or 2 rescuer

CARDIAC ARREST procedure in CHILD and INFANT

  • If alone, do something for 2 min
  • 1 rescuer: 30 compressions : 2 breaths
  • 2 rescuer: 15 compressions : 2 breaths
  • compressions If + pulse → depends on RATE: if < 60 bpm and signs/symptoms of poor perfusion → do compressions
