Emergency Procedures Flashcards
Above 80 kt and prior to V1, what should the reason be to “Reject”
Above 80 kt and prior to V1, the take-off should be rejected for any of the following:
• Fire or fire warning
• Engine failure
• Predictive windshear warning
• If the airplane is unsafe or unable to fly
What information do you need after a failure from the checklist? (4)
Flap,
Ref additives,
Watt code,
OLD factor
On a EFAV1 when you hear “____ Eng Fail” what does that tell you?
You can trim X2 (beep beep) because the engine isn’t going to come back
Level back the other way X1 (beep beep)
What is the call after PF has recovered from the stall with airspeed and altitude increasing?
“Clear of warning”
“Go Around Flap”
Flap 2, select FLC
When does EDM come on automatically? (2)
> = FL250 and cabin ALT >14,500
What is the difference in EDM when you manually select it because cabin alt is <14,500 ft? (4)
No 7700
Masks don’t drop for passengers
Emerg descent caution (yellow) not red
Seat belts don’t come on automatically
Cat II land 2 DA 50ft do you need visual at 50 ft to land?
Yes
Which eng fail will give you fuel imbalance issues?
Center tank empty
Right eng fail, because APU and eng feeding from the same side
Motive flow moves extra fuel when trying to keep pressure hi
(Right ac boost pump can’t keep up >82% N1)
At what point is fog considered visible moisture? Distance and altitude?
1 sm and =1500 ft
When do we add the malfunction additive to the Vga and Vac?
Always (accept Bleed failure see AOM1 1.02.21 pg 1)
Change them in first box independent to AT additive
(Write them down before you change them)
What does TAWS stand for?
Terrain awareness warning system
On an engine failure the checklist asked you to consider a fuel leak, when is this a valid concern?
On a flame out or engine failure, cross check your fuel to what you should have.
(Not a engine fire, unlikely to get a fuel imbalance/fuel leak unless tire dam etc)
When doing a diversion (immediate return) what’s the best way to clear the flight plan and get set up quick? (6)
Dir to hard button
Nearest airport (ERRASE Altn)
( you can narrow your search by adjusting the rwy length)
Dep/Arr takes you right to the PERF Arr page to pick your approach
Manual leg
VSPEEDS
DH/mDA
Auto Brake
When doing a flapless landing what will help with the speed control?
Gear down fully configured before GS
(Easy to forget the landing checklist, because sequence is out of order)
What do you have to do for a low energy go around?
Delay the flap retraction until >1,000 fpm
Go around
Flap (>1,000fpm)
Gear up, set speed to Vga
What do you have to do for go around with respect to checklist in a non normal situation?
Must reset all checklists that have non normal carry over things from the failure.
(Normal checklist will reset themselves when they are opened)
What is the gotcha when capturing GS from above with VS?
Make sure in VS and not VVS (turn of VNAV) because some Canadian ILS’s are coded at 3,000 ft for all wpts and won’t descend if given a tight vector and say “descend 2,500 ft”
(Once press TOGA the LNAV and VNAV automatically rearm for the GA)
Common mistake in sequencing after an emergency? RWY PTSD
RWY PTSD
P - Plan - must get atis and decide what you are doing first before T - Talk
What and when are the emergency PA’s for an emergency landing
2 min (FAF) “Emergency Stations” X2
30 sec (500) “brace for landing, brace for landing”
Checklist- Remain seated X2
Evacuate evacuate
What are the three gotchas for WS?
GA WSHR mode will not capture the alt set in MCP must select FLC once clear of warning
Ensure you have T/O WSHR or GA WSHR mode
<400 ft TOGA won’t set full power must set it manually
Cat 2/3 at 20 ft “no retard” comes up what does the FO and CAPT do?
FO “NO RETARD”
CAPT -“ RODGER” Disc and reduce the throttle to idle manually at 20ft
What auto land level is the lowest you land CAT2 with indicated?
Restrictions?
Appr2
but must be manual landing
(80-DH) AP off
What are the predictive WS call outs caution and warning?
T/O
APPR
Caution “Monitor Radar display” (yellow)
Warning - T/O and climb out “WS AHEAD WS AHEAD” (red)
Approach “GO AROUND WINDSHEAR AHEAD” (red)
(Technically must go around for Any warning predictive or reactive, better be sure it’s safe and clear if you decide to continue)
(50-2,400ft T/O
2,300-50 Approach)
JETUPSET nose low and increasing airspeed, what can help you arrest the increasing airspeed?
Spoiler max
Emergency so anything goes
No speed limit on spoiler
