What is Fantasy?
A genre of fiction characterised by magical elements, supernatural creatures, and imaginative settings.
What are Conventions in literature?
The traditional or typical features and elements found in a particular genre or type of literature.
What is a Protagonist?
The main character in a story, often the hero or central figure around whom the plot revolves.
What is Genre?
A style or category of art, music, or literature.
What is an Adjective?
A word that describes a noun or pronoun.
What is an Adverb?
A word that can modify another word.
What is a Concrete noun?
A noun that refers to a physical thing, person, or place.
What is an Abstract noun?
An idea, quality, or state.
What is a Preposition?
A word or words used at the start of a sentence to show direction, time, place, or location.
What is a Verb?
A doing word.
What is a Simple sentence?
A sentence that is made up of just one independent clause.
Example: The dog ran away.
What is a Compound sentence?
A sentence that connects two independent clauses, typically with a coordinating conjunction like ‘and’ or ‘but’.
Example: Adam left the front door open and the dog ran away.
What is a Complex sentence?
A sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
Example: Unfortunately, Adam left the front door open and the dog ran away.
What are the conventions of Fantasy fiction?
Fantasy fiction is a genre of writing in which the plot could not happen in real life, involving magic or witchcraft, mythical creatures, and often set in a medieval tone.
What themes are common in Fantasy fiction?
Coming of Age, Good versus Evil, Individual versus Society, Individual versus Self, Love and Sacrifice, Overcoming Weakness, Quest for Discovery, Revenge.
What is Greek mythology?
A body of stories concerning the gods, heroes, and rituals of the ancient Greeks and Classical antiquity, meant to teach.
What is the Titanomachy?
The battle where the Titans tried to keep control of the world from the younger generation of Greek gods, including Cronus, the father of Zeus.
Who assisted Zeus in battles?
Heracles, the hundred-handed giants, and the Cyclopes, who provided him with thunderbolts.
What is ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’?
