Enzymes Flashcards
(14 cards)
Transferases
Enzymes that move a functional group from molecule A to molecule B.
Ligases
Combines two molecules.
Oxidoreductases
Transfers electrons from molecule A to molecule B and vice versa.
Common oxidoreductase
Dehydrogenase (loss of electrons)
Isomerases
Converts molecule A to one of its isomers
Hydrolases
Uses water to cleave molecule A into molecule B and molecule C.
Lyases
Pushes molecule A to dissociate into molecule B and molecule C without using water or oxidation/reduction.
Glycogen synthase
Forms glycogen from glucose by making alpha-1, 4-Glycosidic linkages
ATPase transports what ions and in what direction?
3 Na+ out of cell and 2 K+ into the cell
Catalytic efficiency =
kcat/Km Note: The smaller the ratio, the lower the catalytic efficiency
Uncompetitive inhibitors do what to Km and Vmax?
Decreases both.
Using a lineweaver burk plot, Km =
-1/Km, where Km = the value of 1/[S] when 1/[Vo] = 0
Michaelis Menton equation
Velocity or reaction = Vmax([S]/[S] + Km)
Vmax =
Reciprocal of the Michaelis Menton equation
