Equilibria Flashcards
(8 cards)
Define Dynamic Equilibrium
When the forward and backward reactions occur at a constant rate
Define Le Chateliers Principal
When a system is subject to change it will alter to lessen the effect of the change
What is the effect of increasing TEMPERATURE, on a reversible reaction
- Favours the endothermic side
2.heat and therefore energy is removed from the system
What is the effect of increasing PRESSURE, on a reversible reaction
Favours the side with less mols
What is the effect of increasing CONCENTRATION, on a reversible reaction
Favours the opposite side to which the concentration is increased on
What is the effect of a catalyst on a reversible reaction
Catalysts have no effect as they effect forward and backward equally, it only speeds up the time until dynamic equilibrium is reached
What is Kc
The Equilibrium constant
What properties affect Kc
Only temperature
