-high spirit, good tempered, willing to please

-originated from southern US
-mainly used on farms and plantations
-they have amazing stamina
-unique “four beat” walking style
-often seen in movies

-best known for racing
-commonly used to create new breeds
-also known for agility, speed, intelligence

-great as family pets and can even be an emotional support animal
-usually for showmanship

How does twitch work
-providing some minor physical restraint
-provides some discomfort, usually distracts the horse
-release of endorphins, relaxes the horse (happens after 3 min)
How do we locate the jugular vein?
draw an imaginary line from the horse’s eye to the neck
then apply pressure to bulge vein
