-Can end the suffering people experience such as people with paralysis and their family.
-Death is an event in life, not the end of life (life after death).
-It can quickly and humanely end a persons suffering.

-Priest traces the alpha and omega-reminding people that christ is eternal (the beginning and the end). -The priest lights a fire representing the light of christ rising from the tomb -Priest inserts 5 grains of incense into the candle representing the 5 wounds of Jesus.

A large carved stone which is placed over a person's grave. It indicates the location of the person's grave so it can be treated with respect.

A structure that is built to remember an important person or event

Features of a monument
-Wealthy Christians were buried in sarcophagi (highly decorated coffins) with the Chi Rho symbol on them. -In the middle ages monuments were decorated with symbols of decay such as skeletons-reflects the belief that no matter the wealth/importance of a person, they face death and God's judgement doesn't change for them.

An outside area where the ashes of people who have been cremated can be kept.

-Designed to be areas of peace and beauty. Helps mourners to reflect on the beauty and peace of heaven where the person who died is now hopefully present -They are quiet and reflective spaces.
