What is heaven
Eternal life with god; a life of love and indescribable joy
Define purgatory
A stage of purification ; this enables people to reach the holiness required for heaven
Define hell
Not punishment from God, it is the absence of love generosity , and community of God
Why is it important for catholics?
Death, judgement and resurrection are reminders for catholics about how they should live day to day. Every choice they make has a consequence
Explain 2 Catholic beliefs about life after death
Purgatory - a place where someone’s soul is purified for heaven
Catholics will be resurrected like Jesus - there soul will be reunited with there glorified bod

For - stage or purification - most people will die without all sins forgiven
For - enables people to reach holiness required to get into heaven

Some Christian’s might say Jesus atonement on the cross was sufficient and Christian’s do not need to suffer further
Not a belief held by all Christian’s as it is not specifically mentioned in the bible
