- Tarnow: dependence of co-pilots on cap’s knowledge and expertise , with sometimes tragic consequences
- blindly follow orders from higher status (pilot)
❌ socially sensitive research
- e.g. Hitler used authority to inflict pain and death on minorities during the holocaust
