What are positive symptoms
Having something they shouldn’t
Ex. Hallucinations
What are negative symptoms
Lacking things a normal person should have
Ex. Facial expressions (flat affect)
Schizophreniform
Symptoms only from 1-6 months
After 6 months = schizophrenia
Grandiose delusion
Think they’re very important (like as important as the president)
Persecutory delusion
Paranoid
Thinks people are out to get them
Referential delusion
Thinks common events refer to them
Religious delusion
Think they are God
Somatic delusion
Think they have some type of illness when they don’t
Erotomania delusion
Feelings that aren’t actually true
What is an illusion
Caused by external stimuli
Things you do with schizo pt
-Assess: SAFETY (“what are the voices telling you to do”)
-Never argue, validate
-Reduce stimuli
-Distraction: do an activity
Schizoaffective disorder
Schizo + mood disorder
Negative symptoms examples
-affective deficits (no facial expressions
-communicate deficits (lacking in speech)
-relational deficits (lack of interest in socializing)
-avolition (lack of motivation)
