Define leadership
Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal.

Positional power//power an individual derives from their particular office or rank
Personal power// influence an individual derives from relationship or being likeable
Difference between leadership and management
Leadership//change and movement, clarify vision, aligning people,motivate and inspire, set strategies, establish direction
Management//provide structure, make job placements, establish rules or procedures, organizing and staffing

Emergent//when a person is influential regardless of their position

The trait theory// grow in traits
Skills theory// set of key attributes, technical skills in your field for credibility, people skills, conceptual skills
The Style theory// adopt a leadership theory
Situational theory// no one size fits all certain traits fit better in one situation than another, leader must adapt
The contingency theory// fit the leader to the situation
Transactional leader//people follow based on incentive
Transformational// encouraging followers, cultivating follower ship
