Types of rainforest and examples
Temperate/Tropical/mountain Examples? Gondwana/ Daintree Rainforest/ Mt Bulla (in Australia) Amazon/pacific Rainforest/Mt Kinabalu (outside Australia) Tropicalqq rainforest are found where there are both high temperatures and high precipitation such as tropical north queensland. Lowland rainforests form the majority of rainforests and have taller trees and a higher diversity of fruiting trees. Temperate rainforests are found in places like Tasmania which is between tropics and polar regions. Montane are found in mountainous like my kinabulau and my Buller
Benefits that rainforests provide to society
Some physical benefits are the fact that tey are called the lungs fo the earth. they absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen which is necessary for our survival. Rainforest also stabilize climate and produce nourishing rainfall all around the planet. They also houses various amounts of flora and fauna
Rainforests also provide the economy with a boost as money can be made from creating and selling forest products such as wood and paper as well as providing employment
Key features in ria forest
Flora and fauna of the Daintree
The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest intact tropical lowland Rainforest in the world. It has the greatest diversity of plants and animals found anywhere in Australia. It holds 13 of the worlds 19 primitive flowering plant species. It is home to frogs, ferns, Mammals, birds, fish and many more. It has animals such as tree kangaroos, ringtail possumsr and the paradise kingfisher.
Waterways of the diantree
The Daintree is in the centre of the region bounded by the Mossman River in the south and the Bloomfield River 60 km (40 miles) to the north. Through it’s heart flows the magnificent Daintree River and, a little further north, Coopers Creek.
Ecotourism
At the Daintree you can go and see many different things. You cns explore the entomological museum which is home to many beautiful butterflies and other insects. You can also visit the zip line and adventures park which allows you to have a scenic view of the forest. Another way to experience the forest is
The sky rail ris forest cable way which measures a length of 7.5 km.
Special features
It’s diversity and structural complexity is very rare to find and is well known around Australia. The rainforest is also very old estimated to be 165 million years old.
P
Causes of damage to rainforest
Causes of damage:There are many causes of damage to rainforests such as deforestation agriculture and the growing population. Deforestation is the act of chopping down the trees of the forest for paper, firewood and more. agriculture affects the rainforest as it is performed on the forest floor and they burn many acres and hectares of land to make room for it. The growing population calls for a need for more space and jobs meaning trees must be chopped down which can destroy food sources and habitats for animals and plants
What is urban sprawl
Urban sprawl is when people move away from central urban areas into low density, independent areas. This is also known as urbanisation.
Key features of a mega city
To be called a mega city, an area must have over 10 million inhabitants. To be called a mega city a city must have over 10 million people living there. Japan has a population of 38 million people. Mega cities usually have many job opportunities and many companies working and are centred in the area. For example, Tokyo is Japan’s management and finance Centre. Most mega cities have a rich culture and social scene. Tokyo is immersed in its art, origami, woodwork block painting and pottery allowing it to have a name for its Greta cultural aspects. Mega cities usually have large scale and effective transport systems. Tokyo has many highways as well as one of the nets train systems in the world to accomadate for their large population. Mega cities also have great education with Tokyo valuing education very highly as it is the only way that they can have a good future. Mega cities also have large building and SJB scrapers with high density living being favoured over anything. This can be seen in the Tokyo skylines with basically all of the buildings being skyscrapers so that their population has soswhwere to live and work.
Problems in mega cities like Tokyo are the large cake pollution that occurs due to the large amounts of electricity that is used. The damages the environments and destroys the way fo life and the quality of life. House pricing in Japan is quite expensive menaing taht it is hard for the average family to own a home. Population density s another problem that occurs with Japan having a density 336 people per km. This is extremely high and yet again damages quality of life.
Key features that pertain to mega cities
Mega cities prioritize economic competitiveness and employment
- The environment matters, but must be sacrificed for growth.
- Transport overtakes all other infrastructure facilities
- Better governance is a vital step toward a better city.
- Holistic solutions are desired but difficult to achieve.
- Cities will seek improvement but could do more to manage demand.
Technology will help improve efficiency and transparency.
-The private sector has a role to increase efficiency.
Negatives and positives of living in a mega city
Negatives of living in a mega city .Pollution .population Density .House pricing .Lack of transport availability .Lack of Jobs
Positives of living in a major city Better Education Better Hospitality More Entertainment Better Infrastructure Richer culture
Policies to solve Robles of mega cities
Pollution can be reduced by restricting use of electricity and finding new ways to power all our necessities. Population density can be controlled by restricting the amount of migration into cities and creating opportunities in regional areas. Housing can also be fixed by creating better planned regional centres. These centres can also fix the problem of unemployment and if adequate public transportation is built then mega cities will be more controllable and easier to live and work in.
How does the Australian dollar aerie the tourism
Since the Australian dollar is very weak compared to other countries, tourism is very high. This is because the prices are so low that people from all over the world can afford to come over for a holiday or just to experience the culture.
Demand and supply example
When there is a high demand for a product the price goes up because the people really want the product. When there is a large supply the price goes down as there is an abundance of the supply so a company can still make profit with low prices.
Examples;
A new school is made in a town with no other schools, what is the effect on the fee
Up/down.
The price of making a car goes down. How will this affect the price of a car. Up/down
Benefits of trade for aus
Trade promotes economic growth and raises household incomes. Trade creates and supports Australian jobs as one in five Australian jobs include trade related activities Trade makes products cheaper for Australian households and businesses. Trade gives consumers and business greater choice. Trade encouragers innovation which leads to better productivity
Factors that defect tourism in Australia
Some factors that affect tourism ins Australia’s are cost of entertainment. If the cost to do something is way too expensive for someone to afford then they won’t do it. If that’s the same overall in Australia then people will chose a destination which is cheaper and can fit their price range. That’s why Fiji is so popular because everything is soo cheap
Economics
The Australian dollar is worth a lot less than the American dollar and most other currencies which means that one American dollar is worth more than one Australian dollar. You will be able to get a lot more for your money in Australia compared to somewhere like England or America.
Entertainment / Facilities
Australia has one of the biggest sports stadiums in the world, the MCG. People travel to Australia purely to see the G and watch a classic game of footy on it. If a country has horrible facilities and no well known landmarks than why would anyone want to visit it.
Culture
Australia has a very multicultural and rich culture. They have a very diverse range of races which makes it so special. It means that there are multiple food joints from every nation which enables you to have whatever you like, wherever
