Why was the first intelligence exam created?
To test the intelligence of children to help find which needed remedial education and which could progress further.
What is fluid intelligence?
The ability to think logically about a given problem and solve it.
What is crystallized intelligence?
Learned knowledge gained overtime.
What is the Flynn effect?
An overall increase of the average IQ of humans by 3 points per decade for a century.
What is the Flynn effect caused by?
The Flynn effect is caused by access to better nutrition, education, and healthcare.
Which is more important genetic or environmental factors?
They are both important to the same degree. While genetics can created the range in which a person’s intelligence can fall environment may determine where that intelligence falls.
What do we know about intelligence from studies of monozygotic twins?
Monozygotic twins tend to have a correlation of intelligence equal to 86%.
How does the same environment influence different people?
People with the same environment tend to have a closer IQ than people from different environments.
What are Circadian Rhythms?
The natural 24 hour cycle for humans.
What happens when the circadian rhythm is off?
Has ill effects on physical and mental health. Harder to fall asleep until it is back inline.
What happens to the body as result of sleep deprevation?
Immune system lowers, psychological health is impaired.
