Circle of fifths strategies?
Determining the next key
For sharp: add half a step
e.g. 3 sharps is FCG, G# up half a step is A, so A major
For flat: the flat before
To change from major to minor, go down three half steps
E.g. A major has 3 sharps, the minor key with sharps is F# minor
How to identify a secondary dominant?
Look at the next chord, see what it is the dominant of in the key, then see the previous chord and how it fits in with the key of the dominant
e.g. 2nd chord = A major chord
A major chord is dominant of D harmonic minor
1st chord is E major, E major is dominant of A major
So secondary dominant is V/V
